Potato is most likely useful in an Emerald deck that cares about cheap items, exerted permanents, or item synergies rather than as a generic standalone include, because a 1-cost item that enters exerted usually needs some payoff from “play/exerted item” triggers to be worth the slot; in a normal aggressive or midrange Emerald deck, it’s probably too low-impact unless your deck specifically wants more cheap permanents to turn on effects, fuel recursion, or enable cards that interact with exerted items. If you’re just looking for a better 1-cost Emerald item, a card that either immediately replaces itself, gives a stronger resource advantage, or produces a more relevant effect on entry would be better than Potato, since “enters play exerted” is a drawback unless your list exploits it. So: this should only see play in a dedicated synergy deck, and in most decks it would be cut for a more impactful card with immediate value.
