Piercing Attack would mainly benefit an aggressive or tempo-oriented Emerald deck that wants cheap, efficient removal to clear the way for evasive or questing characters, especially if your local meta has lots of small-to-medium threats with Resist or if you need a low-cost way to finish off damaged characters; that said, it is usually not a premium staple because 2 damage for 2 ink is fairly modest without additional upside, and there are often stronger removal options in other colors or even in Emerald itself depending on the set and format, such as faster, more flexible, or more efficient cards like **Strength of a Raging Fire** in Ruby-style damage-based removal or more broadly useful control tools that deal higher damage or remove characters outright; so while Piercing Attack can be playable as a meta call or filler in budget lists, it generally should not be a first-choice card in optimized decks unless you specifically need the “can’t be reduced by Resist” clause and expect to f
