Riptide zou vooral nuttig zijn in een controle- of midrange-deck dat tot doel heeft de bordstatus van de tegenstander te verstoren door goedkope personages, items en locaties te verwijderen, waardoor een sterkere aanwezigheid in het late spel mogelijk wordt. Hoewel Riptide krachtig is vanwege zijn vermogen om het bord van kleinere bedreigingen te ontdoen, kunnen kaartspellen die zich richten op dure, impactvolle kaarten betere alternatieven vinden, zoals Cinderella's Transformation, die vergelijkbare bordcontrole kan bieden en tegelijkertijd extra bruikbaarheid biedt. Het unieke vermogen van Riptide om zich op meerdere goedkope kaarten te richten, maakt het echter een waardevolle toevoeging aan specifieke strategieën, vooral als je kaartspel zijn 6-kostenvereiste effectief kan ondersteunen, zodat het spel in de juiste context kan worden gezien.
